Dan Tobin Smith was raised in north London. He started taking pictures age 13, after being taught by his father, (a photographer and teacher) and enjoying the photography books of such greats as Bill Brandt and Edwin Smith. After school he studied at Central St Martins for a foundation in art and design and then after a year of assisting and travels went on to the London College of Printing for a degree in photography. He graduated in 1999 and began shooting interiors and architecture, then rediscovered still life. His editorial clients include Wallpaper, Another, Creative Review, Acne Paper, China Vogue, Kilimanjaro, i-D, New York Times Magazine. Commercial clients include Nike, Armani, Absolut, Clinique, Cartier, Bacardi, Coca-Cola, Sony and Volkswagen.
